The research circle

The people who write the Gradient Papers.

The research circle is the working group of cooperative members whose contributions appear in the Gradient Papers. Membership is by published work, not by invitation. The roster below names the contributors to the published and in-progress papers; future contributors are added when their work is accepted into a paper.

Larry Klosowski

Founding researcher

Author or co-author on Papers I, II, III, IV. Founding member of the research circle; leads the biomimetic-foundations and consensus-theory work.

Lauren Mendenhall

Cooperative-governance scholar

Co-author on Paper II (The Reef Paradigm). Brings the cooperative-governance literature into the research circle.

Kurt McKelvey

Distributed-systems researcher

Co-author on Paper III (Paraconsensus). Distributed-systems and formal-methods background; leads the consensus-theory implementation work.

Saul Loveman

Methodology researcher; cooperative founder

Co-author on Paper IV (Agentile). Founder of the Mozi Cooperative; the methodology paper extracts the operating rules of this codebase from the work that proved them.

Note on the roster

Names list the contributors to currently published or in-progress Gradient Papers as of 2026.05. Future contributors are added when their work is accepted into a paper; the roster is not a list of “Foundation employees” — the Foundation has none. The roster is a citation list for the research circle.

The Foundation is open to qualified researchers contributing to the Gradient Papers. Inquiries should reach the cooperative’s research lead at research@mozicooperative.xyz with a working draft or proposal.
